Kids room and the porch!

This is the one coat of color in our boys room. They want it a Minecraft theme. I told them when we move in and things settle down a little, I will help them paint figures on the wall. What I would really like is to find someone who makes a wall sticker that we can throw away when they are out of this stage.

I am not a painter, but would like to do somethings around the house. I will be painting the first coats and leave the trim and 2nd coat up to our painter to complete. I am secretly hoping the green looks better with the 2nd coat.

This is our girl's room. She loved the bedspreads with pink and green so we are going with those colors. I am hoping they both darken up a little more with the 2nd coat. They are not bad now, I just want them a little deeper.

While I worked on painting, J kept working on the porch. He hopes to have it decked this week.

He does great work.

WATER! and starting the porch.

It's not Texas' Tea but Funny Farm water! We are getting our well today. The drill needs to go straight down which requires the truck to be level. So, it needs to be lifted on the front end.

J is starting with building our wrap-around porch. This will help him put the Cedar Shake up afterwards.

Our kids are checking out the new porch.

Post holes are in and inspection has passed.

This is the first time, in a while, that I can take pictures outside and see progress.

All the stone is in, and now we just need to install the limestone hearth. We are also planning on spraying the stone with a clear coat (matte finish) to bring out the color of the stone.

As you can see, J placed stone right up to the very top. He is such a talented guy and is not shy about trying new things. This is only his 2nd project with stone. The first was the stone columns at the entrance of our driveway.

Our baby chicks are now almost a month old and not nearly as cute. They are getting a little play time in a dog kennel in our yard. Keep in mind they still live with us at our Waterford home. The subdivision would not like to see them, so they are in our garage and get a little sun action on nice days in a dog kennel. We are getting 2 more kinds of birds this month. 5 are due to arrive next week (4/22 or later in the week) and 4 more after that (4/29 or later that week).

Our girl sits with them for several hours during the day. She now has them trained that as soon as she sits down and gets some food in her hand, a couple will jump in her lap to eat. I am starting to think we are losing custody of our girl to the chickens!

The fireplace!

The fireplace is coming along great. J is really enjoy this project a lot. Each picture (most recent on top) shows the progression.

I need to be better about taking my good camera. The camera phone does not do this justice.

The Mantle is from the same beams we got for the balcony in the Great Room. The beauty is besides the insert, this fireplace just cost us mortar and a $10 beam. OK the limestone we ordered for the hearth is more, but still....
